Handmade in Los Angeles, CA, this striking tote is crafted out of antique Sarouk rugs in classic patterns, woven in the mid-1900s. The sturdy leather bottom is secured to the body of the bag with brass rivets on either end, while the interior has been reinforced with nylon or canvas (depending on whether you choose Black or Natural, respectively). Rugged and refined, each one features a folded, vegetable-tanned leather handle and 9” interior pocket with leather trim. This bag measures 16” across, and is 6” wide at the base and 15” deep.
Please note that each of these bags is one of a kind — in other words, yours will be similar to the one pictured here, but will have completely unique variations in color and pattern.
Mikael Kennedy started his career in New York City as a fashion and fine art photographer. In 2009, he began collecting carpets and selling them out the back of an old diesel Mercedes to clients in the city. A decade later, he opened a private showroom in Los Angeles to house his ever-growing collection — and to present his burgeoning clothing brand, KING KENNEDY, which upcycles antique Persian carpets into cult accessories.
